Survival Skills - the Newsletter
a terrific review of my online coaching sessions - why not give it a try?
I’ve been coaching online - or, if I’m honest, attempting to persuade people that coaching online really is a viable alternative to conventional on-road training for many years. I gained an NVQ in online teaching back in the early 2000s - a course that was itself delivered online. Months later - almost TWO DECADES ago - I actually ran my first online coaching sessions, with some brave early-adopters of online learning. I had one or two drop-outs on the courses, but the vast majority of those who signed up stuck it out to the end and were very complimentary about what they’d learned.
Unfortunately, as is the way of anything hosted ‘in the cloud’, just as I was really getting the online coaching courses going, the cloud hosting site I was using shut down. Try as I might, I couldn’t find anything that could function adequately as a replacement. I can’t tell you how frustrating that was, as I’d put considerable time and effort into creating the materials for that course. I didn’t lose the work, but I did lose the ability to share them with prospective trainees.
However, it has to be said the internet has changed dramatically. There are now far more options for online host. Too many, in some ways. And many are eye-wateringly expensive. And others which are affordable for a small one-man band like myself have too-limited in themselves or the inexpensive plans limit my options.
But there have been two big changes. Steaming software which works right from my PC and the use of ‘Zoom’ style meetings. Thanks to COVID and working from home, many more of us have experience of ‘meeting’ virtually these days.
And thanks to that, there’s a little more awareness amongst riders that there IS value to be had from coaching delivered online. And those that try it…
…well, let’s just say they are not being disappointed.

ON-ROAD RIDER COACHING - courses aimed the individual
I’m back with my unique brand of ON-ROAD training that focuses on delivering genuine SURVIVAL SKILLS, not just technical competence or the ability to quote Motorcycle Roadcraft from cover to cover. Choose between courses that focus on delivering confidence or fixing riding issues, or gaining the necessary knowledge and skills to cope with anything from twisty rural roads to city centre commuting - you won’t get a ‘one-size-fits-all’ course with Survival Skills, but a session which is tailored to YOUR wants and needs rather than a standard test.
You can choose between ONE, TWO, THREE and FOUR DAY courses or pick a short TWO-HOUR SESSION on specific topics. Choose convenient start points around London’s M25, or if you’re more central, I have a challenging route leading out of NW London from the North Circular road at Brent Cross. So if you want to take your riding above and beyond the regular advanced standard, drop me a line.
